Day 15 - March 15, 2011 Wednesday - Chuck Wagon Report #2

I was eyeing these guys on the Ferry Trip to Dauphin Island and making menu plans.

Today was another Rest Day for Jo Ann.  We spent the night in a Hotel outside Ocean Springs MS, and then we moved to a campground down the road from there.  It is Camp Journey’s End, at I-10 and MS-57.  The staff made us feel welcome and were very accommodating to our unique needs.  Across the Parking Lot from the Camp Office is The Shed barbeque restaurant, where we had a great meal.  We had a very relaxing day, and Jo Ann is already starting to count the days till the next Rest Day.
What is the Chuck Wagon fixing for Dinner?
Jo Ann needs to eat more than she normally does to replace the calories she burns during the day.  My plan is to eat half (the amount) of what she does, but for some reason she does not think this means I get half of her desert.  I am fixing mostly complex Carbs and Protein, so expect to see a lot of Pasta and Rice.   Things like these:
Chicken with Mushroom Sauce

Macaroni and Cheese (made with the Heavy Cream left over from the Chicken with Mushroom Sauce)

Macaroni and Cheese again (made with Chocolate Milk - a last minute menu change caught me without Milk and Butter)
If y’all saw the comments for Chuck Wagon Report #1, there was a mention of Seagull Gravy.  So I did some extensive research and was able to recreate it.  Now the recipe for Seagull Gravy is lengthy, involving as it does various methods of trapping Seagulls (like the recipe for Rabbit Stew, it starts with “catch a seagull”), the best bait to attract them with, and how to prepare them, but I will give y’all the short version:
  1. Rip open packet of Chicken Gravy
  2. Mix with 1 Cup cold water
  3. Serve
