Day 18 – March 18, 2011 – Friday Total Mileage 667 , Today 52 Miles

Crossed into Louisiana today.

I’ve been lucky to be on back roads most of the past two days.  It’s been a bit difficult locating camping and we have not found internet connection since we left the Journey’s End Campground, which was one of David’s favorites… it had high speed internet connection and a quite place to work.

Tonight we spending the night at Silvercreek Campground, they are just cleaning up from being flooded, the worse in more than 6-years.  No internet connection, but I am able to catch up on some writing, while sitting in the bathroom, good lighting, electricity and a great way to meet people (mostly women).  The people here at Silvercreek sure are friendly, everyone we’ve met have been very supportive and generous; offering dinner, a cabin for overnight use and even a donation.  Thank you all for your kindness, Louisianans sure have been the most hospitable people we’ve ever met. (The donation we received was spent locally, at the church car wash and bake sale – Thank you)

Silvercreek Campground is an event-oriented camp with music festivals, Redneck Cajun Olympics and many other events. The website says experience true southern hospitality -- they really did show us!

Still a lot of water in Louisiana

Dogwoods are in bloom here
These only seem to bloom around recently burnt woodlands?

She was eyeing my handle bars, thought we might be related !
