Day 15 – March 15,2011, Tuesday – Total Mileage 563 Today 40 Miles

Last night we camped at the I-10 Campground, outside of Mobile AL.  Cycled 40 Miles into a head wind, boy I am tired.  My sweet husband booked a room in a hotel for the night and I get a day off tomorrow… Yeah!!

Mississippi and Alabama State Line
I made it into Mississippi today!  That's five states so far.

Lunch Stops are going to the dogs

We meet a nice couple with a couple of nice dogs, they -- the people couple, have some relatives that live in Hartville, OH.

Lot’sa water in Mississippi!

I’ll probably miss the wisteria blooming at my house (if it survived, last year’s pruning) but the wisteria is begining to bloom in Mississippi now…

Signs, I’ve been seeing a lot of signs while riding across these past five states.  Have you ever seen a sign that just fits your current state of mind or situation?  A few days ago I saw a marquee in front of a church that read “Through persistence the snail made it to the Ark.”  That’s definitely how I am going to make it across the U.S.  I don’t have any special talent or skill for riding long or fast, just persistence.  Another sign I saw that helped me was “The Lord is my strength.”  Have you ever seen any signs that fit a moment perfectly for you?

  1. Signs i have seen...lets see.. when I fell off Abby's scooter and landed next to a sign that said "the lord is your savior" or something like that. So I saw a God Save Me sign.

  2. I'm really enjoying your blog! It sounds like an amazing journey. It's nice to see spring is coming, we just have to wait for it to crawl northward.

Biking is certainly a beautiful way to see the world. Not only do you get to see more, but all senses are involved (for better or worse!) I bet all the flowers smell good as you ride by. This is certainly encouraging me to get back to riding... once it warms up and stops snowing/raining, that is.

Keep on riding/writing and taking those pictures! And when you get back, you can make a scrapbook! :)

  3. Day 15 on March 15th, slick! 5 states is amazing. I'm still loving the pictures, especially the flowers.

A little green is trying to poke through around here. Sun today helped. Miss you at WW - but I'm on a 3 week losing streak. Or is that "winning"? Your plants are fine. We're hoping to ride Sunday. Today I got the bike ready and washed the inside/air bags of the canoe.
